Uterus fibroid (UF) is one of the common diseases in women, especially at the age of 30-50. It is rare for the ones under the age of 20. The cause of UF is still unclear, but it may related to female hormone.
Here we are going to share one dysmenorrhea case due to uterus fibroid treated with herbal medicine.
Patient, F, 28yrs
First consultation: 2018-5-19
Main complaint: Painful menstruation for 3 years, pain level 8-9/10; heavy bleeding during period for 2 years. Utra-sound indicated (Feb, 2018): multiple uterus fibroid. Cold fingers and feet. Pale tongue with thin white coating, normal pulse. LMP: 6-May-2018
Diagnosis: dysmenorrhea
Prescription: 1. Avoid cold drink and food;
ChiShao 10g GuiZhi10g WuZhuYu 10g Chuan Xiong10g GanJiang10g DanPi10g BanXia 10g DangShen15g GanCao10 XiangFu10g
*14 days, cook with water, take twice a day.
Second consultation: 2018-6-9
Main complaint: LMP 2-June-2018, painful menstruation is much better than before, 2-3/10, a little bit cramp,medium volume, sleeping better. Fingers and feet are not as cold as before. Pale tongue with thin coating slippery pulse.
Diagnosis: dysmenorrhea
Prescription: Same as previous prescription add DangGui 10g
*21 days, cook with water, take twice a day.
Third consultation: 2018-7-7
Main complaint: LMP 29-June-2018, no pain at all during this period, normal volume, pale tongue with thin coating slippery pulse.

Summary
In this case, the patient suffered from dysmenorrhoea due to multiple uterus fibroid. In Chinese Medicine theory, the dysmenorrhoea was due to the cold body condition as her tongue was pale and has cold fingers and feet. The diagnosis was dysmenorrhoea due to kidney deficiency. We use the formula to warm the body especially uterus . From the feedback of the second and third consultation, the discomfort disappeared gradually when the cold condition of her body improved.
