The Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Africa (CMAAA), in collaboration with the Islamic Medical Association of South Africa (IMASA), proudly participated in today’s community health screening in Mulbarton. The event brought together a dedicated team of healthcare professionals and volunteers, all united by a shared mission, to promote holistic wellness and make integrative healthcare accessible to the community.

Approximately 200 people attended the screening, receiving a range of free health services including vital checks, lifestyle education, and complementary therapies. The CMAAA team provided free acupuncture and cupping treatments to 42 patients, focusing primarily on conditions such as neck pain, upper back pain, frozen shoulder, and lower back pain.

Remarkably, several patients who received acupuncture during last year’s Mulbarton screening returned again this year, eager to continue treatment after experiencing significant relief and improvement from their previous sessions. Their return reflects the growing trust in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as an effective and natural approach to pain management and overall well-being.
This collaborative effort between CMAAA and IMASA highlights the ongoing commitment to community service, integrative health education, and cultural exchange in healthcare. Together, the organizations continue to bridge traditional and modern healing approaches, empowering communities across South Africa through accessible and compassionate care.
