24 April 2024 | Newclare, Johannesburg

The Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Africa (CMAAA) continued its mission of promoting wellness and holistic care by hosting a free Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) community outreach event on 24 April 2024 in Newclare, Johannesburg.

The outreach provided free consultations and on-site TCM treatments, including acupuncture, cupping therapy, and tuina massage, to local residents. Community members of all ages came to receive care, many seeking relief from common ailments such as back pain, migraines, joint stiffness, and stress-related fatigue.

The team of professional practitioners and trained volunteers from CMAAA worked with dedication and compassion, explaining the principles of TCM and offering personalised treatment plans. The event created a space not only for physical healing, but also for cultural exchange and education, as participants learned more about Chinese medical traditions and preventive care.

One community member shared, “It was my first time trying acupuncture, and I felt a big difference right after. I’m really thankful for this free service.”

Dr Zijing Hu, President of CMAAA, remarked: “Our goal is to make TCM accessible and meaningful to communities in need. Events like this show how ancient healing methods can serve modern public health in practical and inclusive ways.”

CMAAA remains committed to expanding its reach through regular community service events, offering affordable and effective alternative care while fostering intercultural dialogue and respect.
