Strengthening Ties in Chinese Medicine: Chengdu University of Chinese Medicine Affiliated Hospital Delegation Visits CMAAA

Johannesburg, 6 September 2025 – Professor Chen Qiu, Vice President of the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Chinese Medicine, led a delegation together with the Sichuan Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese on an official visit to the Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Africa (CMAAA) and the African Centre of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (ACCMA).

During the meeting, Prof. Chen expressed his strong commitment to establishing deeper collaboration with South Africa in advancing the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Professor Zijing Hu, President of CMAAA, extended a warm welcome to the delegation, highlighting his appreciation for the hospital’s advanced facilities and innovative practices during his visit to Chengdu in July 2025. Prof. Hu reaffirmed CMAAA’s dedication to fostering strategic partnerships that promote the growth and integration of TCM within South Africa’s healthcare system.

Following the formal discussions, Prof. Hu accompanied the delegation on a guided tour of the ACCMA. Thereafter, both parties jointly hosted a community service initiative, offering consultations and treatments to local residents.

The event yielded positive outcomes, with numerous patients reporting immediate relief from their ailments and expressing heartfelt gratitude for the care provided. South African practitioners also benefited directly from Prof. Chen’s mentorship, gaining valuable clinical insights and practical skills that will enhance their future practice.
